tyvek paper shoes

January 09 2014

After 500+ prototypes, thousands of rubber endurance tests, and a patent applicant dye formula, las vegas-based UTLab has created a collection of ‘Light Wing’ trainers and slip-ons: paper shoes that weigh just under 150 grams.

Utilizing Dupont Tyvek for its main upper construction, the footwear concept takes advantage of the flashspun high-density polyethylene fiber and its structural material properties, which is essentially virtually indestructible and completely water resistant.

Paired with a ULR outer sole, and poliyou foam in sole, the shoe provides optimal comfort for daily use, while still handling the abuse of every day wear and tear.

The ‘Light Wing’ Tyvek shoes are currently seeking funding at kickstarter.
